Atomic Agriculture: Research Greenhouse
Student research lead in nuclear energy management, biointeractive lighting, and sustainable greenhouse optimization, researching energy from tower to tummy.

Problem: How do you grow food with less energy? The Atomic Agriculture lab studies nuclear integrated, energy efficient greenhouse growing.
My role: Student research lead for lighting, fertigation, and greenhouse systems under Dr. Carriveau and Dr. Stagner.
Outcome: 3 or more successful research crop cycles, with industry partners testing biointeractive equipment in a live greenhouse.
What I did
I deliver research crop cycles of cucumbers and beans using fertigation, lighting, pest management, and custom built automation, and work on optimizing water and power use.
The lab collaborates with 9 industry partners including Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Priva BV, and SmartGro Bioengineering, testing and optimizing biointeractive equipment in a live research greenhouse.
I have briefed Ontario MPPs and the university president on advancing nuclear integrated, energy efficient, biointeractive AgTech through live demonstrations, and was featured in a city wide university advertising campaign.
