Personal ESP32 Builds: Game Station and Sensor Nodes

My bench builds outside of school and work. Breadboard ESP32 projects including a Game Station with a temperature and humidity monitor and mini games, and battery powered sensor nodes. This is where WallerWatch started.

Problem: The best way to learn embedded systems is to build things that have to work on a desk, on battery, in real conditions.

My role: Everything: wiring, code, displays, power, and a lot of debugging.

Outcome: Working breadboard systems, and the hands on base that became my home garden automation and then WallerWatch.

What I did

The Game Station build combines a temperature and humidity monitor with mini games on a small OLED display, with buttons for control and a score and best score system. It is a small project that forces real embedded skills: display drivers, input handling, sensor reads, and state management, all on one breadboard.

The sensor node builds pair an ESP32 with a display and battery pack. They are the same pattern I later used for garden automation: sense, show the data locally, and log it.

My interest in automating started at home. I automated my own garden first, then did the Ste. Anne high school gardening project, then built my own sensor platform. These bench builds are that story, in hardware.
